Hyper-V does not communicate with NIC with Ubuntu and Centos guest OSs RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We are putting a Ubuntu guest Hyper-V on Windows 2008 r2
and can't get Hyper-V/Ubuntu to see the dedicated Intel NIC
placed on the machine for this purpose
It is unable to to connect to the LAN via either the HV Legacy or Network drivers.
We have the same results with RHEL derivative CentOS.
Ubuntu 11.04 has all the hv_* drivers loaded, lspci does show the
Legacy NIC HV_ is linked to PCI and available.
But neither static or DCHP configs seems able to get the card to connect
to the Hyper_V/Ubuntu instance. The problem seems to be on
the Hyper-V /NIC hardware side but can't seem to narrow down what it is.
The NIC card works on the Windows layer but somehow can't see HV.
The NIC card works fine on the Windows layer.
We have reviewed all the information we can find on the internet yet still are unable to
narrow down the problem - any suggestions appreciated.
