Performing Email validation in synchronization rule in FIM 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a requirement where we need to find out whether an attribute has email value or not and then pass it on to target attribute conditionally. We need to do this in our synchronization rule. Can anyone help us out on this.

  • If I understand correctly - you want to check if attribute value is an e-mail value and then if it is an e-mail not any other value you want to flow it? I would go here for classic rules extension :)  or some custom workflow activity which will be triggered by update of this value and extract e-mail as needed.

Sometimes synchronization rules are not worth an effort which you have to put into making it happen with them.

  • I agree with Tomasz, and I'd do it in the Sync Engine as he suggests since it will keep the attribute valid.  with a WF activity you have to try harder to keep the FIM Service attribute value valid (not playing it to its strength).
