Fatal Error when migrating to sharepoint online RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are running a migrate process to move our current sharepoint to sharepoint online. We are getting a fatal error (see below). How do I fix this so the migration process will successfully process? Thanks.

    Task ID: bee327dc-2283-4846-acec-efd1b2348b48

Message: The selected source list 'http://portal.main.net/IWConvertedForms' has a different template with the target list 'https://mfoa.sharepoint.com/sites/MainPortal-Temp/IWConvertedForms'

    Pending Action: ACTION_STOP

    Exception ID: 0x02010010

Btw, can an option be added under 'Forum' for 'SharePoint online'?

  • Seems like you are using SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) ? It clearly says both the lists are using different templates. Make sure the source list and target list have the same template.

Below article will help you for the errors you get:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointmigration/troubleshooting-common-spmt-issues

It's already added Under the Forums go to Microsoft Online Services > expand it there you see Microsoft Online : SharePoint Online.

  • This bug is now fixed.

I can confirm that version 16.0.5625.1200 (published on 10/19/2016) of the SharePoint Online Management Shell works with multiple file versions now.  I was able to export a document library with IncludeVersions "All" and successfully import to my SharePoint online document library with all versions (and comments) intact.

    Steps to Reproduce

    (1) Export the document library with all versions as below:

Export-SPWeb -Identity https://[ON-PREM SITE] -ItemUrl "Project Documents" -Path C:\SPExport\ProjectDocuments -NoFileCompression -IncludeVersions “All"

    (2) Connect to SharePoint online via the SharePoint Online Management Shell using Connect-SPOService cmdlet.

    (3) Run the following command in the SharePoint Online Management Shell:

    ConvertTo-SPOMigrationTargetedPackage -SourceFilesPath C:\SPExport\ProjectDocuments -SourcePackagePath C:\SPExport\ProjectDocuments -OutputPackagePath C:\SPExport\ProjectPackage -TargetWebUrl https://our-tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/oursite -TargetDocumentLibraryPath "Project Documents" -Credentials $credentials

  • The problem is that when it hits that error, the migration stops. I found the template information on the current sharepoint (see below) but I since I can't see any info on the target I don't know what the template info is for that.

  • Another question. It appears that the 'IWConvertedForms' library is used for InfoPath. We currently do not use InfoPath for anything and do not plan to in the future. So the question is this: Can we exclude this library from the migration process thus avoiding this error? I am not familiar with SPMT (someone else is doing that part). So I wasn't sure if you could filter out certain elements from migrating.

    Thanks.

  • Yes, You can skip those lists/libraries which are used for InfoPath and migrate the other lists & libraries one by one from your SharePoint On-Premise to Online.
