Service get stopped in following scenario. Could you please check?

    1. Unable to access database.  Need to check if running status of MSSQLServer & SQL Agent services.

    2. Service account is not having log on permission

    3. Unable to connect to SCVMM. VMM Service is down

    Thanks

  • the service could not connect to database DITSC. that was the reason the service was stopped automatically after manually started.

The problem has been fixed with the following solution.

    1.      use the service log file (VMMSSPservice)  to view the error.

    2.      the port number that the SQL Server instance uses for incoming and outgoing communication. do not enter port number ie 1433.  Leave it blank.

    3.      Open the Microsoft.DITSC.ProvisioningService.exe file and find SQL connection stirng. Remove port number 1433.

    4.      Start the service. Now service should not stop automatically.

    5.      if you Browse website still you can see the error E9999

    6.      Go to inetmgr VMMSSP web site and select features view and open the connection string, remove the port number 1433

    7.      Now restart the IIS.

    8.      start using VMMSSP portal.

Still if you have any issue please reply.

    Thanks

  • Hi Kathirvel,

Specifying 1433 port in 'Configure Server Component' should not cause service to stop. Also unable to repro at my end in single machine scenario.

Did you restarted machine post installation ?  Since you have single machine VMMSSP setup, you have both VMM SSP service & MSQLService on single machine. There are chances that VMMSSP Service starts earlier than that of MSSQLService which leads to stopping of VMM SSP service as it is unable to contact MSSQLService during start.

    Thanks,
