kdump on Linux over Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

I am running a custom linux VM (2.6.32 kernel) on Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V. I have installed linux integration services v3.4.

I followed the below KB and configured kdump on the VM which is working fine for now.

    I have the below questions,

Is the above issue fixed in latest Linux Integration Services(3.5/4.0)?

If yes, which version is it fixed ?

Edit: Is the fix to be done in the Host. i.e. Hyper-V ?

  • There is no official word that the issue has been resolved in the newer version of LIS. At least, the release notes don't reflect it.

The mentioned fix, should still be applicable and needs to be done within the Guest VM.

  • We have corrected a number of kdump issues in the LIS drivers as well as upstream, but with a custom kernel, I am not going to be able to tell if you have integrated them all. If your custom kernel is not too far away from the RHEL mainline, then the LIS drivers are likely to be successful.
