Stinky Notes will open but won't close RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have sticky notes pinned to my taskbar.  I have no trouble opening it.  Also, when I click on the taskbar icon it minimizes properly.  However, when I click on the minimized icon, it doesn't maximize and the speakers emit a beep.  I can't right click on the icon and close it also.  The only way I can close sticky notes is through task manger.

I tried replacing stikynot.exe in the windows/system_32 folder with a copy from another computer.  I tried running sfc/scannow.  Neither solved the problem.  Do you have any other suggestions?  Thanks!

  • Hi,

Have you installed any software or update before the issue occurring?  I suggest booting in Safe Mode to check the result. If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode, then try the Clean Boot to narrow down the issue.

However, if the issue occurs in Safe Mode, it seemed the components of Stinky Notes corrupted. Please understand only copying the stikynot.exe file is not helpful. The process is associated with many Handles and Modules. You can try System Restore for testing.
