Windows 8.1 update error

    Question

  • When install updates from Windows Update I keep getting 0x80073712 error, I have tried this link but no help. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027322/windows-windows-update-troubleshooter

    Open administrative Command Prompt and type following commands one-by-one followed by Enter key.

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

    Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

    net start wuauserv

    net start cryptSvc

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

    Close Command Prompt and see if Windows Updates works then.

    I noticed the error message, the 0x80073712 error may occur if the Component-Based Servicing (CBS) manifest is corrupted.

    Please refer to the following article and see if it helps.
