0 domain controllers with replication in sync

    Question

  • I've a new win server 2012 standard and I want t set up my GPO's but I've noticed that there is no users OU appearing in the group policy management console and under domain status after clicking detect i see "0 domain controllers with replication in sync".

I created my own OU in ADUC and it does appear in the GPMC, shoudl I just moved all my users to there?

Or is the problem because the DC is not replicating?

**edit, I've just released that users is a container not a OU, so do I have to move all my users into  a new container?

Unless you want to link all your GPOs to the domain itself, yes you have
to move them to a new OU structure. This is best practice anyway :)

  • Thanks Martin, I'll move them now!

Do you know if the "0 domain controllers with replication in sync" error is something to be worried about?

How many DCs are in your environment? If it's only one - ignore :)

  • Just the one at the moment, I'll add another in a few weeks as backup. I assume thats when I should see it?
