Microsoft Edge Web Notifications Registry Settings or Group Policy RRS feed

  • Question

  • We would like to disable Web Notifications from Edge, but the registry key does not work correctly. When changing the setting in Notifications and Actions, the registry key below does change.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge\Enabled to 0.

When enabling the setting, the registry DWord disappears as designed.

Changing the key manually does update the settings bar from on to off and vice versa, but the setting does not actually apply to Edge.

Does anyone know how to correctly change this?

Also, when changing the setting, Edge instead pops up with a prompt saying the following with a link directly to the setting.

"Website.com wants to send you notifications, but first you need to go to Settings and turn on notifications."

Is there a way to fix the setting through GPO or other management feature that would turn off notifications and also remove the additional prompt?
