USB Redirection - VMware RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dears,

i am having a problem redirecting the USB finger print device using RemoteFX,

i have a Windows 2008 R2 VM that is hosted in a VMWare ESX 5.5.

i have configured the client group policy, and selected the device in "local resources"

is there any extra configuration should be done to allow this device to be redirected.

    regards,

  • Hi,

To use RemoteFX USB redirection under RD Session Host you need Server 2012/2012 R2 with supported client.

  • many thanks for your prompt answer, but I have configured everything but unfortunately i am not able to use my devices within the RDP Session.

since my VM is located inside VMWare 5.5 is there any extra configuration should be done to be able to redirect my finger print device that is connected to windows 7 SP1 into Windows 2008 R2 using RDP?

    appreciating your assistance

  • Hi,

Please read my reply again.  Server 2008 R2 will not work--you need Server 2012/2012 R2.

    Thanks.

    Correct.

There are third-party solutions that you may purchase to allow USB redirection in RDS on 2008 R2.  If you need to stay on 2008 R2 I recommend you download some trial versions and test to see if they meet your needs.
