Prerequisites to build a new image for UEFI systems. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on Image creation for new UEFI device and selected the normal client Task sequence with GPT Disk Format option.  Deployment works fine but after OS installation system get stuck with an error “ Operating system Loader signature not found in SecureBoot database (‘db’)

I am currently using MDT 2013 with ADK.

     Please suggest!

  • MDT 2013 work just fine with UEFI systems and you do not need to modify the task sequence, it will use GPT if UEFI is detected.

If you were to look at the bdd.log you'd see this:
Property IsUEFI is now = True ZTIGather

You'd also see something like this:
Disk Index: 0   size: 960 GB ZTIDiskpart
This is an EFI machine, therefore we will need a Boot Partition. ZTIDiskpart
    bCreateBootPartition = True ZTIDiskpart
About to run command: Diskpart.exe ZTIDiskpart
Command has been started (process ID 1476) ZTIDiskpart
      Console + RESCAN ZTIDiskpart
      Console + LIST DISK ZTIDiskpart
      Console + LIST VOLUME ZTIDiskpart
Console + SELECT DISK 0 ZTIDiskpart
      Console + CLEAN ZTIDiskpart
Console + CONVERT GPT NOERR ZTIDiskpart
Create an uEFI/GPT Boot Partition set. V: ZTIDiskpart

As you can see ZTIDiskpart knows what to do with EFI machines. I would suggest using a "Standard Client Task Sequence", but don't modify or add anything to the "Format and Partition Disk" task. Leave it alone and it'll work just fine.
