UNC Share Security Accross Workgroup Servers RRS feed

  • I have a workgroup of windows servers 2003 r2.  On machine a) I would like to create an UNC share.  On machine b) I would to run sql server 2005 backup and write the backup file onto machine a)'s shared folder.  The problem is that the backup job's owner is Local System account.  Is there a way to tell machine a) to allow a process running as Local System to write to a share?

  • Hi rgelfand,

     

    This can be done by using map network driver feature .

    On machine b) you could mapping the shared folder where on machine a) as a local driver (like “z: “)with assign the credentials.

    After that you could set z: as the backup path on machine b)
