USB doesn't work fine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Well I find Vista pretty nice but I get hardware problems with USB on MotherBoard I915P and ICH6R chipset.

Actually I can't make my USB 2.0 HDD drive (200 Go) working. It hangs and system doesn't response. All resume fine as soon as I Shut off that device.

I tried to install Intel INF def but no chance yet.

I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video editor connected on USB Port, but is there any chance to make it working too ?

Vista should be good, I already love it !

Thanks for answering and sorry for langage, I'm french... you now ?!

  • I have the same problem.

To fix it, I disabled USB 2.0 in bios (i.e. rather than USB 1.1+2.0 support, just set it to USB 1.1)

the downside is that you go back to USB 1.1 speeds.

I have an nVidia 4 SLI motherboard (GAK8N-PRO SLI) with 4 gigs ram.

hope this gets fixed before RC2 and\or RTM !

    anybody else getting similar problems?

Yes, im having serious issues like this. I was on xp media center before with no problems running my set up. every since i loaded vista, i have had problem after problem with no support from microsoft, creative or nividia or HP.

    my problem is as follows.

I have a HP M7177A which used to power my office and my lounge room with music and video.

in my office i have a 5.1 speaker surround with a 19" LCD, in my lounge room, i have 6.1 speaker surround witha  42" LG Plasma screen. This is all meant to run off  my Nividia GeForce 7600 video card and my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor sound card.

Do you think this would work when upgrading to Vista Business.. NO NO NO NO..

I have had all 4 vendors on the phone and not can help or is willing to give advice or even when this issue is likely to be fixed.

I have installed, uninstalled and installed and uninstalled drivers as per each vendor's instructions, still nothing.they all say they only have beta drivers for vista but obviosuly nothing is working.

They keep passing the buck as to when a driver will be made available..

such a shame as i actually like the general funky vista functionality but am very close to formattting vista, throwing my CD away and reloading XP again, if i do that though i am likely to look for another OS to work with as this has now become ridiculous.

any ideas, please email me at IT8@aapt.net.au, i really need some help here from either Microsoft, Creative, Nividia or HP.. unlikey to happen as they have my money already and servicing long time customer isnt exactly their forte once they have your money.

so if there are any techies out there who can help, please let me know what i should do.

Im an intermediate user and have general to pretty good knowledge with whats going on.

    Please help.

    Kind Regards,

    Vespa
