Skype for Business 2019 Server hardware requirements RRS feed

  • Question

  • The Skype for Business 2019 Server documentation states that the following CPU spec is recommended:

"Intel Xeon E5-3673 v3 dual processor, 6-core, 2.4 GHz or higher"

My hardware purchasing team has quoted me servers with the following CPU specs:

Intel Xeon Silver 4110 dual processor, 8-Core, 2.1 GHz

Do I need to be concerned with the difference in CPU speed?

  • Hi LA Richards,

As you know, the recommended hardware in the official document are not requirements, but they reflect the requirements necessary for optimal performance.

In your environment, if possible, I suggest you follow the requirements in the official document, as Microsoft have done performance testing on the hardware. And according to the official document, If you decide to try using less powerful hardware than what you see listed here, please be aware that you may face functionality problems or poor performance.

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang
