File does not exists, but gives the message already exists RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to create a file A.txt, in a specified path, where i have READ/WRITE/EXECUTE/DELETE permissions.  The file does not exists, but gives the message 'Cannot rename NewTextDocument.  A file with the name specified already exists. Specify a different file name'.

    How to overcome this error?.

    Thanks.

  • Are you sure that A.TXT doesn't exist?  Go to a command prompt, navigate to the folder and use attrib to view all of the files (whether they are hidden, system, etc etc).
