  • Question

  • I have some standard Word Documents and wondering if it is better to keep them in Work or should I convert them to a list and design a PDP to duplicate the document?  Of course, I want to keep track of all changes, which I know I can do in Word.  TIA!

  • Hi,

by default a Project Details Page (PDP) cannot track changes. So using the tracking feature in word or the versioning feature in the SharePoint doc lib would do the job by default. The advantage of the PDP is that you can use the enterprise custom fields in Project and Project Web App for other purposes, e.g. Reporting or governing a workflow. So it's for sure a trade of. Also you could use a workflow of the PDP to write the change to a log database to track the changes, too. But this requires coding. If you want to follow-up on this, drop me a note.

    Best,
