Startup Failure: Win Vista RRS feed

    In Mar 11, somebody had a similar problem but I couldn't find the answer/solution:

    My desktop OS is Win Vista HP with 64-bit; it came ready installed from shop, so, installation disc is not available. 

    My PC fails to start up. I am NOT able to start in Safe Mode and I am not able to System Restore: I was prompted with error 0x80070002. Startup Repair cannot fix the problem.

    Could the HDD be corrupted/damaged? I have not installed any new devices, nor have I re-configured anything. 

    How do I proceed, please? I really do need to retrieve my data.

    Hi,

    Did you get some error message after Startup Repair failed?
