Trusted Sites don't load when using 'Automatically detect settings' in IE RRS feed

  • Question

  • Any sites that are added to the trust sites zone will not load when 'Automatically detect settings' is ticked on IE, if you untick it and specify the same proxy manually it works fine.

  • Hi,

The option Automatically detect setting basically allows IE to pull the proxy server config from either DHCP or DNS.

According to your description, I doubt this problem maybe caused by IE couldn't receive Proxy setting from DHCP or DNS. When you check this option, but it works failed, then the problem occures. However, to identify this problem, you can try to use Process Monitor to caputer IE process trace, then make a comparsion between this option checked and unchecked.

If there was any updates, please feel free let us know.

  • Even more confusing, if you go Tools > Internet Options > OK (so open Internet Options, do nothing and close the box) it starts working, until you close the browser and start a new instance.

  • Hi,

According to your description, It's hard to identify where the problem it is. However, you can follow steps to troubleshooter this problem.

Firstly, try to start IE with No adds-on mode for test if this problem caused by IE adds-on.

Secondly, try to reset IE for test, make sure this problem not caused by IE settings.

Thirdly, try to disable proxy for test to check if this problem caused by Proxy problem.

In addition, you can also use IE troubleshooter to fix IE problem for test.

  • Unchecking Automatically detect settings works if I then enter the proxy server setting below that. Our firewall don't allow traffic not via the proxy. so yeah the exact same details manually entered that the WPAD provides works.

IE with no addons makes no difference, IE reset no difference, and proxy is required for any internet to work and it does work with trusted sites if manually entered. IE troubleshoot did nothing.
