A User's Folder Names back to having "My" in them. RRS feed

  • Question

  • So the Folders Documents, Pictures, and so on all have My in front of them again like they did in XP. This changed in Vista and changes yet again in Windows 7. However in Windows 7 to confuse people the Start Menu entries match that of Windows Vista, that is to say, they do not have My in front of each one there. Confused yet? What is the point of this change? There is no reason for it and no rhyme to it. It seems like nobody is paying attention to the interface and there is no consistency or guidelines from Microsoft.

  • Yes, I became familiar with the 'My' omission in Vista but it's back.

Regarding the old My 'junctions', I think a new super-hidden atribute should be introduced for them, so that they don't show when looking at hidden files/folders. So, Folder Options > View would additionally include 'Do not show old junction files' and 'Show old junction files'.
