Error when trying to install MIM Service and Portal RRS feed

  • Hi,

    The following error occur when trying to install MIM Portal

    Product: Microsoft Identity Manager Service and Portal -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action InstallPSExtension, location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Service\, command: "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe" /LogToConsole=false /InstallStateDir= /LogFile= Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Automation.dll

    O.S version is Windows Server 2012 R2

  • Sorry for the delay. Did you check your GPO settings as mentioned at the end of that thread?

  • Hi,

    Can you check few things with this error:

    Whether the installer is not corrupted? Download again if possible the Installation Media.

    If you are running the install with Administrator account?

    GPO's are not restrictive and denying any process?

    Firewalls are open to SQL/AD

    No Antivirus software blocking access or scanning the process?

    Also check GPO settings as mentioned by the Guru Jeff Ingalls.

  • Run this command which will produce a verbose log file and it will give you better info

    Msiexec.exe /"path\service and portal.msi" /L*V logfilename.log
