App-V 5.0 client 90-99% CPU at startup

Question
-
Upon login to Windows, the AppV 5.0 client runs at 90-99% CPU for 2-3 minutes. This is impacting the login time and ability Windows to be used, VDI infrastructure, and inability to run both physical and virtual applications. The client is configured to run in Shared Content mode (via GPO). I also toggled the AutoLoad on/off with PowerShell and it did not seem to have impact one way or the other. Also, the client was installed with hotfix 1.
Is this expected behavior? From some other threads I had ready on AppV 4.x, the client could be configured to NOT refresh during login. But I cannot find a similar setting for AppV 5.

Hello,
See this article;
Global refresh = computer
User refresh = user
Occurance can be configured via the INTERVAL properties - see this documentation;

Also see this thread which looks to be a similar issue: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/mdopappv/thread/983fd5d8-14a0-451e-9517-776b3dd3dcb9
Which process is causing high CPU? Process Explorer can also show you which thread in that process is consuming CPU, this might give some indication as to what's going on during that time.

That's helpful, thanks. The information was also right under my nose at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj713460.aspx and I was just overlooking it.Nick Moseley | http://t3chn1ck.wordpress.com

Very good question, which I will probably investigate further in the near future and post back!

A follow-up question for you guys. As for the publishing server configurations, there are options available for Global and User refresh configurations. However, the client configuration doesn't outline the differences very well http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj713460.aspx
Do you have another resource or explanation available? It's beginning to see that Global vs. User is more like Computer vs. User. According to the below thread, the daily refresh is locked at 12 PM. Can you confirm if that is accurate and if it applies to both Global and User refreshes?
