  • You can use either:

    Disk2VHD

This tool will allow you to convert your machines disks to VHDs. You will need to run it inside the virtual machines. It will generate you VHD files, which you will you use to create Hyper-V virtual machines

    MVMC

This tool allows you to convert physical servers to Hyper-V. You will just consider the virtual machines as physical ones. It will allow you to directly convert your servers to virtual machines in Hyper-V

  • Hi Samir,

I have run the disk2vhd tool on the virtual server and copied the VHD file to the Hyper V Server.

But unable to boot the Virtual machine if VHD is attached please suggest.

General failure reboot and select proper boot device.

    Thanks..

  • What is the Operating System of your source server ?

How much disks did you converted ?

Can you post a screenshot of the Hyper-V virtual machine Storage settings ?

What is the error shown when starting the VM?

  • Forgot the above question as i was testing the virtual machine in my lab well badluck not succeeded

Scenario is two virtual machines are running in oracle VM box:

    1. Domain controller with DNS and DHCP (OS win 2008 R2)

    2. File server (OS win 2008 R2)

    Tasks to do:

    1. Hyper V 2012 R2

    2. Iscsi storage

    3. Deploying the virtual machines DC and FS after taking the VHD.

Can you suggest disk2vhd will do the work here.

  • Well we have not done the V2V for the above instead we follow the upgradation and migration for the same.
