Taskbar not bringing clicked on programs to the top?! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dunno why, but today I noticed that my icons on the taskbar, while still capable minimizing, maximizing, and launching applications, do not float to the top of the window order when clicked. In other words If I have one app open, clicking on another app will launch the app behind me current window so that I cannot see it.

    It's like I unchecked a checkbox that say 'bring to top', but as far as I can tell no checkbox exists. Please help =)

  • Hello,

    What app is running on the top window? Does the problem happen in any apps?

    Some apps have a feature to keep its window always on top. Simply disable this feature will resolve the problem.

    If the problem happens no matter what app you are using, try to test the problem in a new account:

    1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel.
    2. Click User Account->User Account.
    3. Click "Manager another account" and click "Create a new account".
    4. Input the user name, select "Computer administrator" as the desired account type, and then click "Create Account".
    5. Restart your computer and log on as the new created user account.

    The background programs will also affect the Windows Explorer. You can also try boot the computer to clean boot mode and see the result.
