Are there any problems to have PWA site as a top level web-site? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I watched the videos provided by Microsoft Technet on installing Project Server on a farm environment. At the end of the video, a top level site "/" is created on newly created Web Application as http://servername:80.

However, I want to create my PWA site as a top-level site as Should I skip the above process to create a top level site as suggested on the video and head straight to creating my PWA site as "/" instead?

Should I anticipate any problems in the future for creating my PWA site as a top level site?

If so why should I create a top level site on the Web Application before creating a PWA site?

    Thank you!

  •  I would not recommend Host header option if you plan to create on Top level site:

When i created PWA using host header on the root site, experienced issue while creating project workspaces.

In Project professional, it will ask you the location to create project workspace while publishing the project. You will not be able to locate in the provisining option.

I would recommend "/" method here: (Do not create top level site)

Steps: Delete the "root" managed path. SSP-->PWA sites --> Create PWA --> Select the web appplication, Provide just "/" in the PWA URL.
