Change Ctrl+Alt+Delete text to Ctrl+Alt+End RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to update the logon screen so it says "Press Ctrl+Alt+End to log on" on a Windows 7 virtual machine instead of Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Does anyone know a way to do this? I have already tried the procedures for manually modifying the authui.dll.mui file with Notepad + + and that just corrupted the disk.

  • Hi,

Please know that Secure logon offers a  keystroke sequence (CTRL + ALT + DEL which is hard cording in system) that cannot be intercepted by any application. When Secure Logon is enabled, no other malicious program can intercept your user name and password as you enter it. We cannot change for security reason.

CTRL + ALT + END is key stroke for RDP connection to display log in screen or task manager or Windows security dialog box, not using for pass the Secure logon. By default the standard Windows key combinations are NOT sent to the VM, unless you are in full screen mode.  From the View menu, click Full Screen Mode. To switch back to window mode, press CTRL+ALT+BREAK. To send the standard Windows key combinations to the virtual machine (only when the Virtual Machine Connection has focus), in the Hyper-V Manager and selecting Hyper-V Server Settings... and then Keyboard and selecting the Use on the virtual machine option. CTRL + ALT + DEL will always go to the physical computer - so you need to use CTRL + ALT + END no matter what you select for a setting here.

Also, manually modify .dll&.mui file may have risk to your system. We never recommend to do so.

    Best regards,

    Vivian
