Incoming mail configuration in sharepoint RRS feed

  • Hi guys ,

                    i have a sharepoint site which is accessible within the organization , and have done the incoming mail settings and all and it works fine ,

    But if the person is outside the organization , and he has got a mail , and if he replies to it and hit send , that reply has to come and save in a list.

    is it possible , if yes, what should i do.

  • i don't really understand what you mean. If a user reply to an email, the To address will be the From address of the original email, or the ReplyTo address. Do you mean you need the To address to be the incoming email address for a document library?

  • If you want mails to be stored in SharePoint lists, they need to be configured to do so , and you have to configure an SMTP Connector in your mail server (like Exchange)  that relays mails to SharePoint.

        Thanks for the replies.

    What am tring to do is,

    i have a text area where user will type anythin and clicks a submit button, that text will be saved in a list and also a mail will be triggered to some of the users, now when a user(to whom this mail has been triggered) replies that text and hit send then the body of the mail has to come and save in the seperate list.

    is this possible.?

  • From my point of view that should work well.

    Since this process involves different steps, including a user action, I would consider using a workflow.

            Can you be please be more specific, since i need only the body content to be saved in the list,

    and as you know, i dont have aurthorisation for mail servers.

  • do you really mean to send SMTP email?

    or just store and send message between different SharePoint users with lists?
