Hyper-V 2008 R2 Physical cd/dvd drive not refreshing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

    I am working on a Hyper-v 2008 R2 server with a single Windows 2008 R2 Standard install.

I am using the physical CD/DVD from the Hyper-v server for the guest machine, however I running into a situation that when I change out a disk, it does not refresh or display the content of the newly inserted disk.
Instead, it is showing all the content from the previous disk.

Is there a way to resolve this permenantly?
I have been working around this by using the Hyper-V manager. I select NONE for the cd/dvd option, hit apply, then re-select the physical cd/dvd drive option and hit apply again.

Seems like a bug to me.

Any direction and assistance would be appreciated.

  • Use ISO images instead, they tend to release better.

This is somewhat expected, since the OS doesn't know what is happening to the physical disc, so it must assume that it is mounted until it's not.
