Lost bitlocker pasword and recovery key but have the recovery key identification

    Question

  • Dear around 3 years back I encrypted one of my laptop drive and couldn't remember the password or find the recovery key. But I have the recovery key identification. Is there any possibility that using my recovery key identification I can get the full recovery key

p.s. I am still using the same laptop.

    regards

  • The ID is not helpful. If you didn't keep a printed record of the key or saved the key to an external drive, then there's no way to get in.

  • Hi,

The recovery key is the last way to unlock the machine, if you have forgotten the recovery key, you are not able to decrypt and access the drive, that is the sole purpose of BitLocker.

    Thank you for understanding.

    Best regards,

  • "I’m afraid your best bet is data recovery specialists." - and those can decrypt drives without the key? Dream on :-)
