Skype provisioning - SFB Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are synchronizing AD objects from On-Premise to O365 through AAD Sync. Earlier we use to enable Skype Online service for some accounts without enabling/creating Skype account/attribute on On-Premise environment. We use to simply assign Skype License after syncing to O365 and then it is provisioning Skype service and populating SIP address under mailbox properties with default SIP address as UPN@domain.com.

But now it stopped working. But it is working only if we enable On-Premise SIP attributes and sync to O365.

Please help to fix this issue.

  • Hi,

If Skype is in Hybrid environment, then we have to enable accounts on On-Premise and then migrate them to SFB Online or else add SIP attributes on On-premise AD and replicate them to Office 365. Once they replicated to cloud, you can assign the SFB Online license. This is resolved our problem.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Nivaspa,

According to your description, I want to confirm the following questions with you for further solution:
    1. Does the users who have this problem all have the SFB account in on-premise environment?
    2. Which environment do you have in your organization now, hybrid environment?

As you know, if a user does not have the SFB account in on-premise environment, users will not have the SIP attributes in the AD. If you do not enable SFB account for a user, and then sync this user’s account to O365 and assign the SFB license to it, this user could use the SFB normally. However, if you have enabled SFB account for the user, and you want to move the user to SFB online, you need to do as the steps of the following official document:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/skype-for-business-hybrid-solutions/deploy-hybrid-connectivity/move-users-from-on-premises-to-skype-for-business-online

In addition, you could also refer to the following blog to find more details about Skype for Business Hybrid deployment:

    Best Regard,

  • Hello Evan,

below are the answers for your questions.

    1. Does the users who have this problem all have the SFB account in on-premise environment?

We don't have SFB accounts in On-Premise
    2. Which environment do you have in your organization now, hybrid environment?

    We are in hybrid environment

Note: This was working before, but stopped suddenly. We sync only AD accounts to O365 and then assign SFB license.  Then users will start using SFB Online accounts by using manual configuration.

but now, when i checked the skype accounts status after enabling SFB License, their account status is Disabled mode and Interpreted user type as "No service"
