Remove disk from storage space so that a larger disk can be added RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a windows 8.1 machine with a simple mirror (two disks). Due to the lack of sata ports I can't add more disks so naturally, I have to increase the size of my disks in the mirror. Can I remove one disk, replace it with a larger, sync up the mirror and then repeat with the other disk? I can't see any option to remove a disk in control panel though

    Thanks!

  • Hi Kiwi,

    Thank you for your question.

You could use the bigger storage disk to mirror, but the size don’t change even you have changed two disks to the bigger size.

For example, if you have two 500G disks for RAID1, when you change a disk into 1T, the storage space for mirror is 500G; when you change another disk into 1T, the storage space for mirror is still 500G.

The best solution is that back up all database, then deploy new RAID1 again.

    Best Regard,
