Purpose of OFFREG.DLL file RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can anyone explain the purpose of the FCS offreg.dll file?

It's in the same folder as the definition and engine update files.

I have a number of machines that don't seem to be updating the def files, but the offreg.dll file always shows the current date.

Any idea why this would be? How does the offreg.dll file get updated?

  • Hi,

    Thank you for the post.

I check my FCS client Definition updates folder and find no offreg.dll file. There are just 4 vdm file and 1 MpEngine.dll file.
To trace the FCS update failed issue, read windowsupdate.log first.
To trace how offreg.dll get updated, run process monitor tool to analyze.

If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know.
