Cannot establish remote PS session using IP. RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I get error, if trying

    Enter-PSsession -Computername 192.168.1.24

    The error:

    enter-pssession : Connecting to remote server 192.168.1.24 failed with the following error message : The WinRM
    client cannot process the request. Default authentication may be used with an IP address under the following
    conditions: the transport is HTTPS or the destination is in the TrustedHosts list, and explicit credentials are
    provided. Use winrm.cmd to configure TrustedHosts. Note that computers in the TrustedHosts list might not be
    authenticated. For more information on how to set TrustedHosts run the following command: winrm help config. For more
    information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.

  • I get errors too sometime. 

    What is your question?
    Did you read what the error says?
    What have you tried yourself to fix it?

  • The error tells you the answer.  Please read it carefully.

    Don't use the IP.  Use the name.

  • Hello, 

    Before you need to add the computer to your TrustedHosts:

    Set-Item wsman:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts -value 192.168.1.24

    After that, you can access, but you must include the credential parameter.

    Enter-PSSession -ComputerName 192.168.1.24  -Credential (Get-Credential)

    The problem occurred because the transport is HTTPs, so it needs a name.
