Restoring Permissions in sharepoint sites RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Some users(owners) deleted permissions in sharepoint 2010 document library. I would like to restore permissions for that document library. I am using a third party tool that do not save permissions.

people is giving permissions to folders(unique permissions) in document libraries.

What is the best tool or is there any way to back up permissions using powershell then restore permissions for a specific site, document library, list, etc?

    Thank you,

  • Hi Bill,

As I understand, you want to back up and restore permissions using PowerShell in SharePoint 2010.

You could backup and restore permission of site, list and library by PowerShell script. The PowerShell in the article below will loop through all the web application to backup permission, you could customize the PowerShell according to your requirement.

For more detailed information, you could refer to the articles below.

The article below is about SharePoint Permission Back Up and Restore in PowerShell.

The article below is about SharePoint - Backup/restore Site, Library and document permissions – PowerShell. It also can work in SharePoint 2010.
