  • Question

  • I am trying to implement the PS2010 "Solution Starters" Dynamic Workflow, and am having trouble seeing how to "hook it up"...  We've installed the Solution Starters, and I am using the included documentation, but it is a little light on how to implement and use this.

    Can anyone who has used this help?  Perhaps a better how to guide is available?

    Thanks

  • Chas,  I've installed the Dynamic workflow plenty of times, so I know it works.  The documentation is light, but sufficient.  Download the soln starter to your desktop, and open the dynamic workflow folder.  There is a word document detailing how to deploy the soln.

    Installation details appear on PG6...  Sit down with your admin and make sure they have edited the DeployPowerShell.cmd file and replaced "http://localhost/pwa" with your own URL.  Then, open a cmd shell, navigate to the install directory, and type run DeployPowerShell.cmd and watch the install run.  The following commands are copied from the word document.  Should be simples...

    1.       Set SiteUrl in Deployment/DeployPowerShell.cmd

    2.       Run Command Prompt as administrator

    3.       Run Deployment/DeployPowerShell.cmd

    4.       Go to http://server_name/pwa_name/_layouts/WrkSetng.aspx

    4.1.    click "Add a workflow link" link,

    4.2.    create workflow association based on “DM DynamicWorkflow” template and press "Next";

    4.3.    configure all required stages to be added to workflow and click "Submit"

    5.       Go to http://server_name/pwa_name/_layouts/pwa/Admin/EnterpriseProjectTypes.aspx page and create project type by selecting newly created workflow association;

    6.       Go to http://server_name/pwa_name/projects.aspx and create project of newly created EPT;

  • Chas where are you at with its implementation? Does it work? Can you configure the stages?

  • Hi Christophe,

    I had my server admin install the "Solution Starters" (all) and I am beginning to acclimate myself...  I see some of the items are accessible from the "Server Settings" and some have embedded in the "Project Center" view, but so far I have not been able to observe a way to avail myself of the "Dynamic Workflow".  I may not be looking in the right area — Do you have any pointers that might move me along? Thanks ever so much for any help!

    Cheers

  • Have you looked at the Dynamic Workflow documentation on how to create one? You need to go to: Site Settings page and under Site Administration, click Workflow settings. This document contains step by step: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project/archive/2011/05/23/announcing-sharepoint-lifecycle-management-solution-with-project-server-2010.aspx

  • I tried the "Server Settings", "Workflow and Project Detail Pages", "Workflow Phase" and "Workflow Stage", but cannot seem to get the options in the "Dynamic Workflow" instructions, they still look the pre "Solution Starters" way.

    How do I determine whether the Dynamic Workflow "Solution Starter" was properly added?

  • Hi Ben,

    I think our Server Admin may have had issues with the installation first time.  She re-ran it and now I can get some traction, thanks for your help!

  • Hello Ben

    I managed to install the DM DynamicWorkflow, and I can create a workflow as well, but I added some new stages, but there are not appearing in the drop down list, it is only showing me old stages in the drop down list. I then created the stages, and then redeployed DM DynamicWorkflow solution. but still I can't see the newly created stages. even though when I rename the old stages, they are not appearing in the list.

    Can you please help?

    Thank you

  • I manage to do it.

    I installed the latest version of Dynamic Workflow, and it resolved the issue

    Thank you
