The World Wide Web Publishing Service is disabled on Exchange 2007 mailbox server and not starting why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Experts,

We have SCR Exchange 2007 SP1 and the WWW Publishing service is diabled on one of the node (Currently active node).

    When I set the startup type to "Automatic" and start the service it says;

    ---------------------------
    Services
    ---------------------------
Could not start the World Wide Web Publishing Service service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

The server is the original passive node but currently for maintenance a week back we moved resources on this node.

    What could be the issue?

    Regads,

  • Dear All,

Than you! May be it sound silly!

I went to dependency services tab on "WWW Publishing" service and found one of the dependency services--HTTP SSL Service---was in disabled state.

    1. I set the state of HTTP SSL service to Manula\Automatic and started it.

    2. Started WWW Publishing service and set to automatic. It started without any issue.

    Regards.
