  • Hello,

The logged in user, what permission group is the user account in? Access to ODATA is control via a new permission - 'Access Project Server Reporting Service', if you are using the Project Permission mode, ensure the security group your user account is in has this permission or move the user to a different group that does have the access. If in the SharePoint permission mode the user will need to be one of the groups below:

Portfolio Viewers, Portfolio Managers, and Administrators

See the link below for details:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj163015.aspx

Regarding the second option, have you enabled the 'Project Web App Permission for Excel Web App Refresh' feature? See details below:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/office365-project-online-help/grant-reporting-access-in-project-online-HA104021109.aspx

Once this feature is activated and your account has access to the ODATA endpoints, open the reports in Excel, update them then save them back to the report library, they should update in Excel Web App then.

  • Dear Paul,

    1st Query,

Ans: As I'm using Project Server Permission mode and im logged with the user who is the member of admin group and in administrator group 'Access Project Server Reporting Service' is ticked on. So, the concern regarding permission is resolved.

    2nd Query,

Ans: Im unable to find Project Web App Permission for Excel Web App Refresh' feature in site setting of PWA.

Snapshot is attached when trying to open report in browser.

to resolve this followed below mentioned URL but unsuccessfull result

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2769345/en-us

Still facing same issue, issue is not resolved kindly help/suggest.

Note: Im using Project Server 2013 not Project Online 2013.

  • Hello,

This refresh feature is only available for Project Online. As you are using Project Server 2013, I would recommend that you use either the OLAP cube or the PWA Reporting database as the data source, not ODATA.

  • Thanks for the reply,

sharing with you snapshot of builtin "Project Overview" report in Project Server2013.

In the below snapshot you can see in the bottom their is writter "OData Project Overview" which is by default so how can i change to other resource to get the report work.

  • These are just example reports. You would need to build the reports you want.
