Excel 2013 Power Query Does Not Have a Pulisher RRS feed

  • Question

  • Downloaded Power Query from Microsoft and installed on both Windows 7 and 8 machines. On Windows 7 machines, I am able to use the Power Query add-in, it's publisher is Microsoft Corporation. For Windows 8 machines, the publisher is marked as <none>. Is this a known issue? Is there a reason why the power query add-in is not signed for Windows 8?

  • Hi Alexandra,

This is a known issue. The Power Query add-in is loaded using mscoree.dll which is shipped with Windows, and in Windows 8 a change was made to the way this DLL is signed that causes Office applications to no longer recognize it as being signed. Note that everything is still signed, only the signing mechanism changed for mscoree.dll.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
