How to modify data RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have a situation where I need to change information in FIM.

We have business unit TSS00 in one directory and we want to strip the 00 where it will be TSS in the other.  How do I do this?

  • You should be able to do this in the Synchronization Rule using the LTrim/RTrim functions. Or you could write a advanced attribute flow as an extension to the MA importing the data from the source directory.

  • I think that the LTrim/RTrim will only get rid of white space or blank spaces and not characters.  I'm not familiar with writing an advanced attribute flow.

  • Sorry, I meant the Left / Right functions; which are in there if my memory serves me. For an example of an advanced attribute flow code, you can download my MA which has a little bit of code for this (http://blog.goverco.com/2011/12/loading-picture-to-ad-via-fim.html).

  • Are you talking about leftpad / rightpad?

  • There should be a Left function in there - or maybe the Replace function could help you. The complete reference is here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff800820(v=ws.10).aspx.

You may need to combine some of the functions.

I do tend to write advanced flows for these situations (and often combine them with regular expressions) soon as it gets just a little bit fancy as you can quickly find limitations in the currently available standard functions.
