AD RMS High Availability RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am new to AD RMS. I have the following in my environment.

    1 DC = dcsrv.domain.com

    1st windows 2008 r2 server = adrms-srv1.domain.com

    2nd windows 2008 r2 server = adrms-srv2.domain.com

SQL Server database = SQL database in backend with high availability

Host A record created for AD RMS cluster and license access  = adrms.domain.com

Required = Please help me in the steps need to take while setup AD RMS services in  high availability in such a way that if my one server goes down another server can provide the templates and document access.

    Thanks in advance....

  • Hi NKUAMAR,

Have you had a read thru the ADRMS design guide http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee221010(WS.10).aspx

So essentially need high availibility on the AD RMS services, so two servers running the AD RMS role with WNLB enabled load balancing traffic on ports 80/443. Then HA for the DB servers, so two SQL servers running on a windows cluster active passive.

the deployment steps are available in the step by step guides and sizing material in the design guide link above.

For templates you need to put them on a common file server share path.

  • Install ADRMS then set up NLB cluster. Be sure to use a DNS CNAME for the RMS services URI.

    Kind regards

  • Hi Adnan Thanks for cool shadow on points…

But little confusion on ADRMS service high availability by using WNLB.

Do I have to setup WNLB first before installing ADRMS role Or First install ADRMS role and then do the WNLB ???

    Thanks in advance NKumar
