Rec'ing error opening doc in word 2010, but opens fine in word 2007... RRS feed

    Hello,  I rec'd a word doc that opens with errors (The file ~ cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents) in word 2010 (same error on two different computers both with Office 2010), but the file opens fine with office 2007.

    The file will open in 2010, but half of it is covered with a huge black box.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Two ideas:

    - The file might contain a link to an external file (image, whatever) that is not present on the machine you open the file on, or that has another address (not the c:\users\... that is included in the file.

    - The file might have travalled on the Internet, and you should dioscard the security warning at the top of the screen.
