Access Denied from Transferred HD RRS feed

  • Question

  • I transferred a hard drive from our 2nd desktop due to a failed motherboard, to our other pc. I can't access any of the files (particularly the pictures) due to an access denied message.

I tried changing ownership of the files, but it didn't seem to work. Both machines are running Win7.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

Can you open the hard drive on other PC?

If no, please use Chkdsk.exe to repair. Run the following command to try to repair:

    1. Open Command Prompt.
    2. Type

       chkdsk [volume:] /r

                Note:volume is the drive letter.

If yes, please check if the ownership of hard drive is only list folder contents.

If yes, please change it in edit.
