User and Group Permissions - Project Site - Access Denied RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

So I am having a bit of trouble with user permissions. For some reason some of the users in our PMO group cannot see Project Sites.

I am overall Administrator. I have given myself full full access to everything. I have given other users the same permissions as myself and ticked all Global Permissions for them. I have given them the My Organization category (as well as trying others, sich as My Projects). However with a few projects, they cannot access the project sites. Even if they are owner of the project. Some of the PMO team cannot even see the Project in Project Center, even though, again, they have the full Global Permissions and My Organization

I thought ticking all the boxes for everything would just let them have full access, but I guess I was wrong!

    TIA

  • Loko,

After you have changed the permission please navigate to the Sever Settings > Project Sites, select a project where the permission doesnt work and suyncronise the user permission. ( syncronise button). Check and let me know if this resolves the issue.

If not, can you please also check if you have any queue error message?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Ideally you structure the security model of the EPM 2010 in your company.

As samples of the structure of a model.

1 - You must create a category, set it's Permissions.

    - To do this go to the PWA Server Settings - Manager Categories - New Category.

2 - Create the group and set it's permissions.

    - To do this go to the PWA Server Settings - Manager Groups - New Group.

3 - Include Category within the Group.

4 - Go to user Management and add the user within the group.

    NOTE:

It is important to remove any permissions that has been posted for this user individually because the correct form is that it inherits the permissions of the group project.

Another point is to examine the issue of synchronization of workspaces that point tends to interfere.

To do this go to Server Settings - WebSites select the site and click Synchronize.

    I hope this help.

  • Also make sure you double check if deny permissions check-box is selected. If its denied somewhere then it will explicitly deny the permissions irrespective you allow is at other places.

I would recommend you to spare 15 minutes and look at below section and understand how permissions work at high level:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197286.aspx

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197559.aspx

Looking at above two links should give you a fare idea and help you to set correct permissions.

    Hi Marc,

    Synchronise worked. Thanks.

It's only certain project sites, I am going to try and figure out why these project sites and not all of them (I thought it might be that they are created from Project Professional but thats not it!).
