Windows 64-bit RRS feed

  • Question

I bought a new PC with Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, so I installed it, but the ~ 50% of my software doesn't work now(incluaded 1 printer and 1 scanner)! So can I order a copy of the windows but this time a 32-bit OS? My version at the moment is OEM!

    Please help!

  • 1st, have you tried to go to the manufacture sites for your printer and scanner to see if they have some downloads for software for Vista 64bit.  I have an HP printer and was able to go and download it from their website and got it working.

2nd, where did you purchase the laptop?  If it came with 64bit already installed, you will have to pay for another copy of Vista to get the 32bit, and you stand the chance of losing some functionality of the hardware if it was built for a 64bit OS.

I would research a little more and see if their are some drivers available for 64bit Vista before reloading your machine for 32bit.

Let me know how it works out.
