Server 2003DC to 2012 / exchange 2003 to 2013 migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are in the process of updating some of our server infrastructure.  Currently we have a server 2003 sp2 that is the DC and has exchange 2003 sp2 on it.  Its also the file server.

We are going to be building a virtual environment (vsphere 5) on new hardware.  My first goal is having one VM as a server 2012 DC, another being server 2012 with exchange 2013 on it (I know I need to install and migrate to 2010 first).  At first I was going to migrate the DC but then I read that it won't work with exchange 2003.  So should I build the VM for the exchange server first and migrate the exchange server to 2010 and upgrade that to 2013?  Or is there a better way to tackle migrating all of these server roles.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated.  This is a production server so I'll be doing most of the work during the nights and weekends and would like to minimize the time spent after hours.

    Thanks,
    Josh

You have erroneously posted your question in a public forum dedicated to questions about Microsoft Project Server, an enterprise project management application.  I would recommend that you repost your question in a more relevant user forum.  Hope this helps.
