Firewire stop error with more than 2GB of RAM on nforce mobo on Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Microsoft made an update for vista: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925528  that corrects a similar issue with USB devices.

The issue that I am having is that when I plug in a firewire device, such as my external HDD, after the device is connected, the device stops working.  In device manager, it reports an error that the device driver has stopped working.

When I upgraded my system, I had the exact same issue with my USB devices, but then it downloaded that update, and it solved the problem.  Unfortunately, that update only pertained to USB only.

I never had this issue before I upgraded my system from having 1 GB of RAM to 3 GB of RAM.

I am convinced that this is the exact same problem that was present before with USB devices.

    This is my system configuration:
    Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
    Gigabyte GA-M55-SLIS4 nforce4 mobo
    Evga Nvidia GeForce 7600GT
    2x512MB DDR2-800 and 2x1GB DDR2-800

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You.
