1607 Release and supported ConfigMgr versions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Curious of the versions of configmgr that will support the release of 1607 (anniversary update) to be released August 16th.

Currently running 2012 R2 CU2 and we will be moving the to the CBB servicing model during the next upgrade.

Thinking we may need to prioritize the upgrade sooner.

Thanks for any info as I've not seen anything yet to clarify.

  • In the release notes of ConfigMgr CB 1606 is a Statement about added support for Windows 10 1607.

This is also the version that will bring support for the Windows 10 Anniversary update.

    ConfigMgr 2012 R2, even with SP1, doesn't support Windows 10 1607. ConfigMgr 2012 SP2 / 2012 R2 SP1 provided (limited) support for the first two Windows 10 branches, which were 1507 and 1511.

  • Thanks Simon.

Looks like we will need to upgrade sooner than later.

  • Just a reminder... "not supported" doesn't always equate to "will never work".

It might "work" just fine--but if you see a problem or encounter an issue, if you open a call to Microsoft about it the first requirement to address the issue would be to get to a supported environment.  THEN, if the problem still occurs, there's something to look at.

Note, I haven't tested anything, just saying that of course you do want to be "supported"--but you can try to squeak by unsupported -- but you are on your own.  You might have to do creative workarounds for any issues you see until you get upgraded.
