Questions regarding carrying out a side by side upgrade for skype for busienss 2015 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We currently have a lync 2013 setup and we would like to carry out a side by side migration to skype for business server 2015. I have the following questions:

    • When carrying out the side by side deployment does deploying the skype for business 2015 servers make any changes to the active directory schema?
    • When the skype for business topology has been published. Would this require any addtional SRV records to be deployed ? Also would any modifications need to be made to the existing SRV records that are pointing towards the lync 2013 servr?
    • If we was to move a user from a lync pool to skype for business pool , would it be possible to migrate users back to the link pool in case if there were any issues with the skype for business pool?
    • When a user is migrated to the skype for business pool would their skype for business client log them in automatically?

    Thanks,

  • Hi sysiah,

Q1: Active directory will have any changes once we run “Prepare Schema” under “Prepare Active Directory” using Skype for business server 2015 deployment wizard.

Q2: We could not add or modify any SRV records for Skype for business deployment.

Q3: You could migrate user back to Lync 2013 pool.

Q4: When user migrate to Skype for business server 2015, user could login automatically. For migration consideration, we suggest you change SRV record to point to Skype for business serer 2015
