Search Schema Property to Refine on Folder

    Question

  • I am working on making a custom search page for a SharePoint online site I have and I want to have a refiner that will allow me to refine the results based on the folder or library a document might be in. SharePoint 2010, which I am migrating from, has this crawled property and it is called SiteName, however in SharePoint online this crawled property is not the same. Is anyone aware of a crawled property that is the folder name a file is in?

  • Hi,

The "SiteName" crawled property in 2010 can do a refinement on the results page for the sites and folder of the fileshare but in 2013 or online can only for sites.

By my test, for filtering file share content in search results based on the folder strusture, you can use "Path" managed property.

    For example:

    Path:\\sp\test\manager\*

  • I am actually trying to add the path or folder name to the refinement panel on the left side of the search page so I can narrow down the results by that folder.
