Will Power Query work since Power BI has been officially released? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Where I work we have Office 2013, not Office 365.  I downloaded the Add-ins for Power Query and Power Map and have been using them.  Since Power BI was officially released today for Office 365, a version which I do not have, will these add-ins stop working in the Office 2013 version of Excel at some point in the near future?

  • Hi Ginger,

The Power Query Preview versions will be expired soon, however, the good news is that the Power Query GA version is available (newest update was published last week). For Power Query features that depend on a Power BI subscription (such as Corporate Search or Sharing of queries)you will need an active subscription.

For non-Power BI specific features, such as connecting to your data sources, reshaping queries, etc. you can use Power Query as an Excel add-in, as long as you meet the requirements specified in this page.

    Hope that helps.

    M.
