  • Question

  • Hi i have a problem searching big exchange base for some attachment.

As i found i have to use export-mailbox -attachmentfilename.

But this command works very funny. It copies all objects from searched mailbox to target location and then deletes those that does not suit search condition.

I have to search a base about 1.5TB. Is there a way not to copy the whole base to find several messages?

No, there isn't -- at least not using the export-mailbox cmdlet.
You'll have to either purchase some 3rd-party software or code your
    own search using EWS.

  • Hello,

The Export command is used to export items from Mailbox. So the behavior you encountered is by designed.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  • I think that I am not the only one who think that the key "-attachmentfilenames" means that only messages with described attachments should be exported. Not the whole mailbox. It's really confusing and is not expected.
